Child molester sentenced to ten years in prison

A man found guilty of molesting a minor has been sentenced to ten years in prison by the G.Dh. Gaddhoo Magistrate Court.

The court sentenced the island’s Muhaimin Shareef to prison last Sunday.

He was sentenced to ten years in prison for molesting a 14-year-old girl at a house in Gaddhoo on 18 April 2010.

The verdict from the Gaddhoo Magistrate Court said that even though Muhaimin denied having any physical interaction with the child and did not present his testimony to the trial. And the witness testimonies and girl’s statement during the investigation and the medico legal records prove that Muhaimin did abuse her.

The sentence from the court said that Muhaimin Shareef is sentenced to ten years in prison as per Article 3 - A and C of the law against child molesters.
