Ifuru Airport inaugurated

The airport in Raa Ifuru has been inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen, at a ceremony in the island today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of Maldivian Abdul Haris said that the new airport will create many job opportunities for Maldivians.

Maldivian conducted a test landing at the airport on Tuesday.

The price of a one-way ticket from Male’ to Ifuru is MVR 777, and return ticket MVR 1,554.

The airport construction project was carried out by Coastline Group, following a contract signed in April 2015 between Ifuru Airports Investment Private Limited and Island Aviation.

The project to develop an airport in Ifuru was awarded to Ifuru Investment in May 2011.
