Qatar Airways has announced the launch of passenger services between Amsterdam and Doha on 16 June 2015.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, unveiled the airline’s vision for its latest new destination at a press conference on 26 May 2015 at the Intercontinental Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Speaking at the press conference, Al Baker said, “As an airline, we are always looking for new opportunities to grow and expand our worldwide network. Amsterdam is a major capital, one of the busiest airports in Europe, and one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world. We have been pursuing the opportunity to open this new route for some time and I am pleased to have achieved our ambition. We have high expectations for the new Amsterdam-Doha flight with many passengers already booked on our new flights.
“Passengers to and from Amsterdam will have the opportunity to enjoy Qatar Airways’ exceptional service and the world’s best Business and Economy Class service while travelling on our Boeing 787 offering them luxury and comfort. Furthermore the convenient connection times and seamless transit experience offered by our award-winning Hamad International Airport will make onward connectivity to our worldwide network a pleasure.”
The Boeing 787 is one of the latest generation aircraft in the airline’s 158 strong fleet. This aircraft offers 254 seats configured in two classes, with 22 fully-flat bed seats in Business Class and 232 in Economy Class. Flying non-stop, the total journey time between Doha and Amsterdam is six hours and 35 minutes and passengers can enjoy superior on board entertainment and access to more than 2,000 blockbusters, films, music and television from Oryx One.
