Technical Director of FAM, Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) has said that they are trying to begin a women’s football league starting next year.

Speaking at Sun Media’s SunTV Sports, Mohan said that under FIFA’s instruction, the tournaments next year would be planned with six teams.

He said that FIFA has promised football gear to the teams taking part in the league to promote women’s football in the country.

FAM is currently conducting a women’s football championship tournament. While the tournament is underway, this is the third consecutive year for the women’s football championship tournament.
