Hearing against Alhan Fahmy stab suspect cancelled

The hearing scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today against Mohamed Naseem, charged with stabbing former MP Alhan Fahmy, has been cancelled.

Criminal Court said that the hearing was cancelled because Naseem’s lawyer had to attend another court at the same time.

The trial began more than one year after Alhan was attacked.

Alhan was at a local restaurant, Break Water in Artificial Beach, Malé, when he was stabbed in the back with a knife around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, 1 February 2014.

Alhan was promptly transported to a hospital in Sri Lanka for treatment. He has to date, not fully recovered from his injuries.
