Second phase of the drainage assigned to MWSC

The second phase of draining the water from the streets of Male’ City has been assigned to Male’ Water and Sewage Company (MWSC).

The second phase of the project was assigned by the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muiz at a ceremony held at the Housing Ministry today. The Managing Director of MWSC, Fazul Rasheed accepted the project on his company’s behalf.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Muiz said that under the agreement signed today pumps would be installed connecting five major areas where the flooding is the worst to the ocean. And so the pumps would be installed in the areas of Thaajuddeen School, Kalaafaanu School, Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal, South West Harbor and the area of Housing Ministry.

Minister said that at the completion of the second phase in seven months, a total of MVR 14.1 million would be spent.

The second phase of the project would install pumps in three areas completed in the first phase. The Housing Ministry said that eight more wells would be constructed to pump water.
