Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer has said that Hussain Humaam Ahmed, who has been convicted of the murder of Dr Afrasheem Ali, was told by the people who planned the murder that it was funded by siblings Abdulla Javid and Shaheen Mohamed.
Abdulla Javid is the son-in-law of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Reeko Moosa Manik.
Umar Naseer made this remark on Khabarutherein on DhiTV today.
He said that Abdulla Javid, Shaheen Mohamed, Azlif Raoof, and Adam Salah met with Humaam before the murder, and during this meeting they told Humaam that MVR 4 million would be received once Dr Afrasheem was murdered, of which MVR 1 million would be given to Humaam.
They also told Humaam that the murder was funded by Abdulla Javid and Shaheen Mohamed, the Home Minister said.
Umar Naseer further said that police have phone call recordings indicating that at 2:45 p.m. on the day before the murder, Humaam called Abdulla Javid on his mobile and discussed the murder.
According to Umar Naseer the two also discussed the murder via SMS on the same day.
