Adeeb: Gasim hiding from public again

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb has claimed that Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim “is hiding again” from the public.

Adeeb made this remark while speaking at a rally organised by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) at Artificial Beach on Thursday night.

Adeeb aimed severe criticism at Gasim, and said that Gasim tried to become Speaker of Parliament and was defeated, and subsequently tried to work with opposition groups – but now has decided to hide from the public eye.

According to Adeeb, Gasim “wants to own all money and lagoons”, and has refused to pay the over $100 million he owes to the government.

Meanwhile Adeeb and Gasim have held meetings behind closed doors on two occasions over the past few months. Neither politician has revealed any details on what was discussed.
