Dhiyana: I am not Aminabi depending on Hassan Takuru for deliverance

Former Attorney General Fathimath Dhiyana has, following her husband Abdulla Jabir’s decision to support the current government, said that she is “not Aminabi depending on Hassan Takuru for deliverance from Foolhudhigu Handi”.

Dhiyana’s reference to the local folklore tale where Aminabi, the wife, is rescued from the monster Foolhudhigu Handi by her husband Hassan Takuru, came on Twitter this morning.

Jabir, a former MP and Chairman of Yacht Tours, has left the main opposition party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and declared support for President Abdulla Yameen’s economic policy.

Jabir said during a recent speech that it was unacceptable, that the Maldivian government falls “twice a day” – a Dhivehi expression for something that happens too often.

Dhiyana has been seen at recent anti-government protests led by MDP. Prior to this, Dhiyana and Jabir have been united in their declaration and retraction of support for political parties.
