Transport Authority has announced that Raalhugandu area will be vehicle-free for some hours during weekends and public holidays.
Under the new regulation, vehicles are not allowed in the area from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and public holidays.
Transport Authority said that the purpose of this regulation is to dedicate the area for families, for people out jogging and working out, and to ensure safety for people walking in the area.
A signboard has been put up to inform the vehicle-free hours.
Traffic Police will take action as per the Land Transport Act against those who violate the regulation, Transport Authority said.
