Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) have raised concerns about the house arrest of the MP for the South Galolhu constituents, Ahmed Mahloof.
Mahloof has been transferred to house arrest for five days after spending four days in police custody.
PGA, which contains parliamentarians from around the world, issued a press release today saying that Mahloof being detained without any charges against him.
“PGA also calls on relevant authorities to immediately release him from the current restrictive measure of “house arrest”, given the absence of any charges brought against him to justify such a measure.”
PGA also expressed their concerns that the prerogatives of a sitting Parliamentarian may have been violated while he was exercising his right to express opinions and dissent.
