Police, STELCO discuss increasing streetlights in Mal

The police have held discussions with State Electric Company (STELCO) regarding mounting streetlights on some roads in Malé.

Police said that the discussions yesterday (Monday, 30 March 2015) were focused on installing lights on roads which lack proper lighting in Malé, to ensure public safety.

During the meeting, police raised concern over the notably high incidence of crime in dark roads. They said that discussions were also under way with other relevant institutions to find solutions to this problem.

STELCO assured full cooperation as requested by the police, to increase streetlights in Malé as part of the efforts to prevent crime.
