The parliament sitting scheduled for this morning has been cancelled.
The reason for the cancellation is unknown, and Parliament Secretary General Ahmed Mohamed could not be reached by phone at the time of publication.
Article 17 of the Parliament Standing Orders states that a schedule containing the dates of the sittings for the year ahead, should be published by the Secretary General on the day of the annual inauguration of the parliament.
Normally, the date for the next sitting is announced at the end of every sitting, which was not done yesterday.
An MP told Sun Online that the reason for the cancellation had not been informed.
Opposition MPs have been protesting, calling for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed, at every parliament sitting this year.
