Mother arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill child

An Indian woman has been arrested in Laamu Maabaidhoo on suspicion of attempting to kill her child.

This has been confirmed to Sun Online by the police spokesperson, who said that the incident was reported yesterday evening.

President of Maabaidhoo Council Ibrahim Shareef told Sun Online that the woman is married to a man from Maabaidhoo, and she attempted to kill her child when she went home yesterday evening after a street brawl with her husband’s child from another marriage.

Shareef said that the woman said that she would kill her child before heading home.

Council officials followed her home and entered by breaking the locked door, and found that the woman had pushed the child to the floor and was about to put fertiliser in the child’s mouth, said Shareef.

The child was rescued unhurt.

Shareef said that the woman has three children below the age of five, who have been handed over to relatives of their father.

The father was out fishing then the incident took place yesterday.

Shareef said that the woman is known to lose her temper and has threatened to kill her children many times before, during arguments with her husband.
