Businesses closing early: Shops at 10 and Caf

Economic Ministry has ordered to close the shops at 10 p.m. and cafés and restaurants at 12 until further notice.

Minster of Economics Mohamed Saeed told Sun Media today that the ministry requests support from the community on the decision.

Ministry of Economic Development issued a press release today saying that due to the amendment to the Article 22-A of the Import Property law (1 June 1995), Article 14 of the Café and Restaurant law (1 June 1995) and the Article 13-A of the Canteen law (1 June 1995) on 26 March 2015, starting today, until further notice, all shops should be closed by 10 p.m. at least. And all cafés and restaurants should be closed by 12 a.m.

It also said that steps would be taken against those who do not abide by it.

While the closing time for businesses have been moved up, a foreigner being killed four days ago inside the “Lhiyanu Café” at the south west harbor and the increase of violent crimes in the country, Home Minister, Umar Naseer said that closing businesses and café’s early is important to create a peaceful city.
