Court gives remand period of 15 days for Dr Didi

Criminal Court has approved a remand period of 15 days for former President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Dr Ibrahim Didi.

Didi was released on 10 March 2015 on the condition that he does not participate in protests for one month, but arrested again yesterday during a protest.

He was taken to Criminal Court for the remand period hearing this morning.

Dr Didi said that the court cannot release him on this condition, and he will press charges against the police for arresting him for participating in a protest.

He was initially arrested during a protest on 27 February 2015, and given a ten-day remand period.
