Imran: An agreement is being made, but leaked document is a fake

President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Imran Abdulla has said that the document, claimed to be an agreement between AP, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), and Jumhooree Party (JP) to cooperate to pressure the government, is a forged document.

Imran said at a press conference today that the three parties are, however, working on and preparing to sign an agreement.

He said that the leaked document is the “next version” by the government after the public rejected its “pen drive philosophy”, and an attempt to frame and defame the opposition.

When they do sign the agreement, it will be done with transparency and in the presence of the media, said Imran.

When asked by a reporter if the agreement which is being drawn up includes cooperating with foreign groups, Imran said that he cannot think of any reason why foreign groups should be mentioned in an agreement created for the purpose of carrying out activities against the oppressions of the government.

Speaking at the press conference, Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof said that there have not been any efforts to change the government, but if they were to do it, it would be done in public.
