Two people arrested in relation to yesterday

The Police have arrested two individuals, in relation to the incident of stabbing occurred yesterday. In yet another incident of stabbing in Malé, a minor under the age of 18 was attacked with a sharp object and seriously injured.

A Police Media Official said that two people, who are suspected to have participated in the stabbing of a minor near Million Bookshop, Majeedy Magu, yesterday at around 3:15, were arrested last night.

The victim was stabbed at two places in the back, and also at his left shoulder. Some bystanders had found two knives soaked in blood, from a drainage nearby, and it is suspected that those were the weapons used in the attack.

As the police are searching for the perpetrators, the victim is under treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). A media official from IGMH said that no information about the victim could be disclosed, as it was against the wish of the victim’s family.

Number of such incidents has been on the rise in Malé in recent years, and within the last two months, two young people were killed in similar attacks.
