Woman arrested for burying baby born outside of marriage

Police have launched an investigation following reports that a woman in Noonu Velidhoo buried her baby born out of wedlock.

Police said that the 18-year-old mother was arrested in Velidhoo on Saturday night.

Efforts are ongoing to locate the baby, and it is so far not known if the baby was alive when it was buried, said police.
