MNDF rebuts claim that pistol went missing last year

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has denied the statement in court yesterday by Maumoon Hameed, former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim’s lawyer, that one of its officers lost a pistol last year.

MNDF said in a statement issued today that the rumour that an MNDF officer lost a 9mm pistol while at a resort, is not true; and assured citizens that no weapon had gone missing from the military’s weapon inventory.

Maumoon presented evidence in court yesterday to prove his claim that an MNDF officer lost a Browning 9mm Pistol – similar to the one found by police in Nazim’s apartment - while in Shangri La Resort last year.
