Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s Deputy Commander of Male’ Area has said the responsibility for the unlawful arrest of the chief judge of the criminal court Abdulla Mohamed has to be taken by the Commander of the Male’ Area back then Ibrahim Mohamed Didi.
In today’s hearing in the trial of former colonel Mohamed Ziyad who is charged with terrorism, the Deputy Commander of the Male’ Area Lieutenant Colonel Nasrulla Ibrahim said testified saying that he believes that Ibrahim Didi should be taking responsibilities for the arrest.
He was replying to a question by the Judge Abdul Baree when he said it.
He said that Ibrahim Didi told him that Ziyad would be giving orders on his behalf in the operation to arrest Abdulla Mohamed.
Nasrulla said that on the night of 16 January 2012, Ziyad ordered him to bring a “man called Abdulla Ghazee” to MNDF custody. And when he said he didn’t know who it was, Ziyad said the Police would show him who it was.
Aside from testimonies from Nasurlla, testimonies were presented from Captain Ibrahim Naseem, Captain Abdul Majeed Ibrahim, Medical Officer Dr. Ali Shaahid, psychologist Aishath Zeena and Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Jamsheed.
