The Minister for the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareed (Mundhu) says that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Jumhooree Party (JP) are organizing rallies because they are worried about the success of the current government.
Mundhu spoke to Sun Media saying that the reason behind the opposition attempt to bring civil disorder is not because the government did anything against the law, but because they are troubled by the success the government has had in the last 15 months.
“These people but are envious of the success of this government or what we have achieved with the hard work and the support of the people.” Mundhu said.
The minister has the country has grown in various aspects and with bigger projects; a clam has descended on the country. And the opposition is worried that President Yameen is sure of getting a second term in 2018 with the success of these projects.
“This is one person or two people trying to gain a presidency with disregard to the people, even if the country becomes chaotic and lose the future, even if they lose all self respect, doing it like saying “we won’t stop until they rule”, is what I feel.” Says minister Mundhu.
He also said the opposition wants to disrupt the civil order and send a bad signal to investors and negatively impact the tourism industry.
