Nasheed taken back to Dhoonidhoo after treatment

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has been taken to Dhoonidhoo, after consulting a doctor in Malé for the injuries sustained while being taken to court yesterday for the hearing on terrorism charges.

The police spokesperson said that Nasheed visited a doctor at Medica in Malé at 2:20 p.m., and was taken back to Dhoonidhoo at 3:00 p.m. today.

The nature of Nasheed’s injuries is unclear, but his legal team claimed that he hurt his arm in the efforts by the police to take him to court yesterday.

Nasheed attempted to talk to reporters outside the court yesterday as he was being led into the building in police custody.

Police said that he was not allowed to talk to reporters, following which he fell to the ground on purpose.
