Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has assured everyone that relations are good between him and President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
This follows a recent remark by Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof, a prominent member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) – a party founded by Gayoom, of which he is still President – that Gayoom no longer has a say in the decisions made by the party.
Gayoom said on Twitter yesterday:
I want to assure PPM membership n public that there's no rift between me n President Yameen. PPM will issue a statement to that effect.

The party’s Ethics Committee has decided to take action against Mahloof after he, in addition to the aforementioned allegation, also criticised the party and the government.
Mahloof also said that regardless of which party he belongs to, he would never work against Gayoom.
