Laamu Gan Regional Hospital has started providing dialysis treatment for patients suffering from kidney failure. This is the fourth such center established at atolls.
The service of dialysis treatment was inaugurated at Laamu Gan on Tuesday by the acting Health Minister, Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shainee.
Head of Gan Regional Hospital Mohamed Abdul Samad said to Sun Online that they have started providing dialysis treatment with modern facilities and with two dialysis machines.
He said that two patients at a same time which is a total of four patients per day, can undergo dialysis treatment without any obstacle from that hospital.
Registration for dialysis treatment was opened after the inauguration of the service and two patients of Gan undergoing treatment from Male’ has returned to the island, said Samad.
Minister of State for Health Dr. Mohamed Habeeb said that dialysis treatment can be received from Male’, Hulhumale’, Addu City, Raa Ungoofaaru and Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi as well.
Habeeb added that dialysis treatment in Thinadhoo Regional Hospital will be inaugurated next week.
