Shifag participates in Parliament meeting boycotted by MDP

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) boycotted today’s Parliament session for granting approval to the Vice President and fourteen cabinet ministers appointed by President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, but Fuvahmulah Medhu MP MDP’s Shifag Mufeed attended and spoke at the meeting.

The Government Accountability Committee had assessed the names and sent a report to the Parliament. Shifag made a speech following the presentation of the names of the Vice President, Mohamed Waheeddeen of H. Deensvilla, and the ministers.

No other member of MDP was present at today’s session.

Several MPs expressed dismay that MDP had decided against participating in today’s session, as MDP stands for democracy.

Voting on the names presented will begin at 13:30.
