Nazim files defamation case against Police Commissioner

Former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has filed a defamation case against Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed.

This has been confirmed to Sun Online by former Police Commissioner and member of Nazim's legal team, Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz.

“We will reveal what the defamation case is regarding, as soon as it is accepted by the court,” Riyaz told Sun Online.

This comes after appeal cases filed by Nazim were accepted by High Court today, regarding lower court orders to arrest him and extend his remand in custody.

Nazim was arrested on Monday night under an arrest warrant.

Police claim to have found weapons including a pistol at Nazim’s residence during a raid last month, and have sent a case in this regard against Nazim to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office to be filed to court.

Nazim has also been accused by the police of involvement in plotting a coup.
