Ahmed Saleem, Abdulla Mohamed appointed as Deputy Ministers

President Abdulla Yameen has appointed Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) and Abdulla Mohamed (Madhanee Abdulla) as Deputy Ministers.

According to President’s Office, former member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Ahmed Saleem, has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; and former Minister of State for Home Affairs, Abdulla Mohamed, has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Economic Development.

Saleem left PPM and joined Jumhooree Party (JP) to run for Henveyru-North seat at the Parliamentary Election. The Henveyru-North seat slot was given to JP by the government coalition ahead of the Parliamentary Election.

Saleem recently left JP following JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim’s decision to cooperate with opposition party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Abdulla Mohamed was dismissed from his post of Minister of State for Home Affairs by President Yameen. No reason was given for his dismissal, however, it came after he ran for Nolhivaram seat at the Parliamentary Election as a member of Adhaalath Party – a seat that was also contested by JP, which was then part of the government coalition.
