Immigration Department eases procedures for foreign domestic helpers

The Department of Immigration and Emigration has eased the Employment Approval application process for the employment of foreigners as domestic servants, drivers, and attendants.

The department said in an announcement yesterday that employers of foreigners as domestic servants, drivers, and attendants no longer have to submit the employer’s bank statement, and the copy of the employment contract attested by the High Commission of the foreigner’s country of origin.

The department further said that this change follows complaints regarding difficulties in obtaining and attesting these documents.

However, new requirements have been introduced for employment of foreigners as domestic servants, drivers, and attendants. The department said that information on these requirements can be obtained by contacting them on their hotline, and the hotline numbers can be obtained from their website.
