Former presidents Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Dr Mohamed Waheed have met with President Abdulla Yameen.
The two separate meetings were held at the President’s Office this afternoon.
The President’s Office said that at the meeting with Gayoom, discussions took place regarding ongoing developmental projects and the current political situation. Gayoom assured that Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) would cooperate with the government in its efforts towards development and provision of public services.
Discussions were focused on similar areas at the meeting with Dr Waheed, said the President’s Office, and Dr Waheed also commended the government for its solid policies, and assured to provide assistance as required and requested by the government.
These meetings took place shortly after Jumhooree Party (JP) accused the government of violating the Constitution, and officially declared its decision to leave the government coalition.
