Nazim has nothing to do with weapons, claim lawyers

Lawyers representing former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim have said that Nazim has nothing to do with the alleged weapons found in his apartment by the police.

This came in a statement issued today by Nazim’s legal team, led by former Attorney General Aishath Azima Shakoor.

“Neither Nazim nor any member of his family has anything to do with the alleged weapons found in his current residence, his wife’s apartment, by the police. Who placed the items there, or who they belong to, remain unknown,” read the statement.

The team also said that Nazim had not done anything illegal, and assured that he would never break the law.

Nazim’s apartment was raided by the police at around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said at a press briefing later, that ‘dangerous weapons’ were found in the apartment.

Nazim has assured that he would fully cooperate with the police in their investigation.
