Five members of the Local Government Authority (LGA) have declared Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim dismissed from his post as President of LGA, following a no-confidence vote.
The five members have also removed LGA Vice President Moosa Naseer from his post, through a no-confidence vote.
Voting on the no-confidence motions were carried out without any support from the administrative staff of LGA. Sujau Hussain, Member and former Vice President of the LGA Board, has been appointed as the interim leader of LGA.
Sujau told Sun Online that attempts were made by some administrative staff to obstruct today’s meeting, and that this was under investigation.
“I respectfully request all government institutions to implement LGA’s decision,” he said.
He added that the no-confidence motions were passed unanimously by the five members present at the meeting, and that the voting was conducted according to procedures.
