The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has initiated an investigation after a doctor was accused of negligence by the family, following the death of a patient who was under treatment for kidney failure.
Sources have told Sun Online that the 33-year-old man, who had had a kidney transplant at a hospital in Sri Lanka, was admitted at IGMH on 21 December 2014, and died on 23 December 2014.
Spokesperson for IGMH Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun Online that an investigation was already underway by IGMH, when the issue was reported by the patient’s family.
She noted that the patient was taking treatment prescribed by the Sri Lankan Hospital, and in critical condition when he arrived at IGMH.
The patient’s medical records, history and medication would be assessed as part of the investigation, and no action has been taken against the suspected doctor yet, said Zeenath.
