Former President Nasheed calls to impede current government

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has called on Commonwealth and all countries in the world to impede the current government of Maldives.

He mentioned that one action to impede the Maldives government can be obstructing government officials from travelling to other countries.

He said that several members of the current government have property in Europe.

“Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) needs to take speedier and more stringent action than they do now,” Nasheed said.

In the interview with AFP, Nasheed accused President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik of having interfered with the issue of holding an early election, which he claims is the responsibility of Elections Commission.

Nasheed is currently visiting India to gain India’s support for an early election.
