A 250 kWp Solar PV System has been installed and connected in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.
The Grid connection was launched at a ceremony in Thinadhoo today, by Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim.
Speaking at the ceremony, Thorig said that the system would facilitate the production of 50 percent of the maximum electricity per day required by the island.
Including a 308 kWp system established earlier, Thinadhoo now has Solar PV Systems that can produce 558 kWp.
Also at today’s the ceremony, Thinadhoo Council announced its participation in the Environment Ministry’s campaign to reduce electricity costs.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials of government institutions in Thinadhoo, Thinadhoo Council Members, Thinadhoo-North MP Saudulla Hilmy, Vilimaafannu MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, Minister of State for Environment and Energy Abdul Matheen Mohamed, and Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Ahmed Nimal.
