Malaysia to donate $200,000 to water fund

The government of Malaysia has pledged $200,000 to the Male’ Water Crisis Management Fund.

The decision was conveyed by Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Anifah bin Haji Aman, in a letter addressed to Foreign Minister of Maldives Dunya Maumoon last week.

Foreign Ministry said that in his letter, Foreign Minister Aman expressed solidarity of the government of Malaysia with the government and people of Maldives due to the challenges faced by the water crisis and stated that it is in this spirit, that contribution of $200,000 was made.

Responding to the Malaysian government’s financial assistance, Dunya expressed the Maldivian government’s sincere appreciation for the prompt response and support provided to the people of Maldives. She remarked that “Malaysia remains a true friend of the Maldives”.
