Abdullah Saeed sworn in as new Chief Justice

Supreme Court Justice Abdullah Saeed has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Maldives tonight, soon after the People’s Majilis approved his nomination by President Abdullah Yamin Abdul Qayyoom.

Ibrahim Muaz Ali, Spokesperson of the President’s Office, said that Abdullah Saeed took the oath of office a while ago, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

The oath of office was administered to the new Chief Justice by Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed before the President.

After the administration of the oath, the document of commission was handed over by the President to the new Chief Justice.
