The parliament has scheduled a sitting for tonight, to appoint a Chief Justice.
This has been confirmed to Sun Online by Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam, who said that she had been informed via SMS that a parliament sitting would be held tonight, and the purpose of this sitting was to appoint a Chief Justice.
This has however not yet been announced by the parliament.
The parliament passed earlier today, to dismiss Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain and Judge Ahmed Muthasim Adnan from their posts as Supreme Court judges.
Article 147 of the Constitution states that the President shall appoint the Chief Justice after consulting the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and confirmation of the appointee by a majority of the parliament.
