City Council has locked up Dharubaaruge and sent employees home, following the transfer of City Council’s employees working at Dharubaaruge to Housing Ministry.
Housing Minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that information had been received that the Ministry’s employees working at Dharubaaruge have been sent home, and that the matter is under investigation in collaboration with Civil Service Commission.
“I understand that this was done by someone at Dharubaaruge, who was following orders from Councilors of City Council. This is an act clearly against the law. We are working with Civil Service Commission to look into the matter,” Minister Dr Muizzu said.
Sun reporters visited Dharubaaruge today to see that the main door was locked. There was no sign of anyone inside the building.
Member of Male’ City Council Ibrahim Sujau said today that as Dharubaaruge belongs to Male’ City Council, employees of Housing Ministry should not be working there.
Dr Muizzu said that employees of Dharubaaruge were transferred to Housing Ministry subsequent to legally transferring Dharubaaruge to the Ministry as well.
“Dharubaaruge has been transferred to Housing Ministry according to laws, rules and regulations. Civil Service Commission has officially transferred the employees to Housing Ministry. Finance Ministry is working on transferring employees’ budget to us as well,” the Minister said.
City Council said that only some employees of Dharubaaruge have been transferred to Housing Ministry.
