Minister of Defence and Acting Minister of Health Mohamed Nazim has conducted an official visit to Raa Atoll to better understand the problems faced by the atoll’s health sector, and the preparations necessary for the inauguration of the Ungoofaaru Hospital.
During his visit to the atoll yesterday (Thursday), Nazim visited the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital and met with the staff as well as the patients at the hospital.
He held discussions with Raa Atoll Council and Raa Ungoofaaru Council, to understand the problems faced at atoll and island levels.
He also visited the health centres in Raa Dhuvaafaru, Raa Maduvvari, and Raa Meedhoo.
During meetings with the councils of Dhuvaafaru, Maduvvari, and Meedhoo, discussions took place regarding ways to address the problems facing the health sectors of the specific islands.
The Acting Health Minister was accompanied in his official visit to Raa Atoll by Under Secretary at the President’s Office Dr Hussain Faiz, Deputy Minister of Health Mohamed Rafeeg Hassan, and Deputy Director General of Health Ministry Ahmed Gasim.
