Male’ City Council has leased Mohamed Mustafa’s Mr Chico and another restaurant located at Artificial Beach for a period of ten years.
Member of Male’ City Council Aiman Ismail said that Chico Restaurant and Tandoor have been leased to the parties which proposed the highest rent.
Chico Restaurant was leased to Irin Enterprises for Rf 104,500 per month, and Tandoor was leased to Freemos Group for Rf 89,000.
“The contract has been made with Tandoor, and the work is ongoing. We don’t decide the price. We lease out to the party which proposes the best price. We have looked into their plans for developing the premises,” Aiman said.
He also said that the agreement with the party who won the bid for Chico restaurant has not been made because there are things to be completed before this can be done. Owner of Chico Restaurant has been requested to vacate the premises and hand it over to City Council.
City Council took the case of failure to pay the rent by Mustafa’s Mr Chico Restaurant to Civil Court. Food club owes Rf 6.5m to the government. The government’s and City Council’s efforts to attain these premises have not been successful so far.
City Council has made the announcement to lease out three Food Courts.
