Government aids in transplantation of 16 patients

Health Ministry said that 16 patients’ kidney have been transplanted during the first year of president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s government under health insurance scheme while MVR 296,285 have been spent on dialysis of 674 patients.

In a press conference held to share the work carried out by Health Ministry during the first year of the government of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), acting Health Minister Mohamed Nazim said that MVR 78.8 million have been spent on treatment of Maldivian patients from abroad under Aasandha health insurance scheme.

He noted that outstanding MVR107 million of Aasandha would be settled in a near future.

Sharing with the media the extension of Aasandha service for Maldivians, Minister Nazim said that Aasandha service would be provided from all the Health Center in the country, 122 pharmacies, 14 optical centers, five private hospitals, 20 private clinics, 14 hospitals of India and six hospitals of Sri Lanka.
