Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the harbour construction project in Shaviyani Maroshi is delayed because sufficient funds were not allocated to this project in the budget.
In response to a question posed by Komandoo MP Ahmed Nasheed at the parliament today, Dr Muizzu said that the MVR 1.5 million allocated to this project, is not enough.
He said that the funds necessary to implement this project have been included in the Projected State Budget for 2015, and the exact start date for the project would be decided once the budget is finalised.
Dr Muizzu said that efforts are ongoing to find a consultant for this project, and the consultancy part of the project would be carried out over the coming 1.5 months.
He said that the Maroshi harbour project would commence next year, and is expected to be completed in 2016.
