President Dr Mohamed Waheed has called on all Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) personnel to respect the MNDF oath taken by them.
He was speaking at the ceremony held at MNDF Headquarters this morning to mark the completion of the 56th Basic Training Course conducted by the MNDF’s Defence Institute for Training and Education. Course participants took their oaths following which weapons were handed over to them.
The President called on MNDF officers to remain honest in carrying out their services, and noted three basic rules to keep in mind as they line up their squads on the streets to serve the nation.
The three basic rules are to remain steadfast in their belief in Islam, to put the nation’s interest before one’s own, and to uphold the rule of law.
“It is a must for MNDF officers to be in the front row to fight against any danger posed on the nation’s security,” the President said.
The President stressed that they should study and understand the changes in the country and outside world, and that they should be the ones to take up the front as well as the last rows in defending the country.
“As all other institutions stand up to defend our nation, you are the ones to save our country from destruction,” he said.
