Dharumavantha Mosque

The Criminal Court has sentenced Imam of Dharumavantha Mosque, Hussain Thaufeeg, 34, Zurich Villa, Gaafu Alifu Vilingili, to two years in prison.

The court said in its verdict issued today that it found Hussain Thaufeeg guilty of the charge of promoting religious strife, following his confession.

The charge filed by the state stated that the accused delivered Friday sermons and led prayers in separate congregations on 19 and 26 September 2014 at Dharumavantha Rasgefaanu Mosque, which is not among the mosques designated by the ministry for Friday prayer in Male’.
