Flights that were delayed due to a strike launched by employees of Bandaranaike International Airport of Colombo have been departed from Male’ to Colombo.
Ibrahim Nasir International Airport was crowded with passengers who had to wait in the airport as a result of flights scheduled to Sri Lanka being delayed due the strike launched by employees of Bandaranaike International Airport today.
An official of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said to Sun Online this evening that Sri Lankan Airline flight that was scheduled to depart at 3:35pm today was able to proceed its journey to Colombo at 5:32pm and Emirates flight that was scheduled to depart at 4:20pm today left at 4:45pm.
Official of MACL also noted that flights scheduled to travel from Male’ to Colombo on Wednesday evening would operate as planned.
Employees of Bandaranaike International Airport seeking for a salary increase launched the strike. The strikers have also disconnected electricity power supply at the airport today.
The strike disrupted airport operations, however, according to press media in Sri Lanka, the strike was concluded after a short period of time.
