Maumoon: PPM must learn from Feydhoo and Kolhufushi by elections

Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, president of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) said that PPM must learn from the results of by elections held to elect members for councils of Addu City Feydhoo and Meemu Kolhufushi.

By elections held in Kolhufushi and Feydhoo on 20 September 2014 and 18 October 2014 respectively, were won by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidates after competing with PPM candidates.

“PPM must learn from both Feydhoo and Kolhufushi by elections. We will insha Allah” posted former president Maumoon in a twitter message.

According to the tentative result of the by election held to elect a member for Meemu Kolhufushi council on Saturday, PPM candidate Mohamed Naseer got 333 votes while MDP candidate Hussain Shamil got 355 votes.
