Government will pay special attention to neglected islands: President Waheed

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that his government will pay special attention to islands which have been neglected before.

The President made this statement while addressing the people of Guraidhoo last night, during his visit to some islands in Thaa Atoll which he commenced yesterday.

He noted that Guraidhoo was among those neglected islands.

In his address last night, the President said that the people of Guraidhoo are known to work hard for the development of the island. He stressed that the government will not discriminate – and assured that every citizen will be treated equally.

President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the people of Guraidhoo for their support to the current government.

The President reassured the people that he would not go back on his oath, and no form of violence will be tolerated in the community. He said that he will stand firm in moving forward with the country.
