Two people have been injured in a fire caused by explosions on a boat off West Park, Male’.
The spokesperson for Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) told Sun Online that part of a container on Lily Line caught fire at around 11:30 a.m. today, and that two people were injured in the incident.
He said that the two people are receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The fire has been extinguished by MNDF Fire and Rescue.
The police spokesperson said that the fire was caused by explosive items in a container on the vessel, and that the two people who were injured are a welder, who is a foreign national, and a Maldivian.
He did not provide any further details on the victims.
The case is under investigation by the police.
