Day 3: Eid celebrations continue

Monday, 6th October 2014 was the third day of Eid Al Adha celebrations in Maldives.

Sun journalists from some islands covered the third day of this year's “Bodu Eid” celebrations. Sun readers from different islands across the country shared how they celebrated the third day of eid through messages and photos.

Alifu Dhaalu Maamigili:

Maamigili youth association organized “Koadi Negun” for the third day afternoon. “Vaa Dhemun”, and “Bodu Mas Dhuvvun” were carried out in the evening.

Baa Kamadhoo:

Kamadhoo women’s committee and youths with the local council planned and held women’s “Koadi Jehun” and “Fenkulhi” (a type of water play) on the third day of eid celebration.

Laamu Maabaidhoo:

Women’s “Bileh Dhafi Negun”, a type of cultural dance was performed. “Bodu Beru” was planned for the evening.

Baa Eydhafushi:

Women’s treasure hunt and “Koadi Jehun” was carried out in the morning. A stage show, “Bodu Beru” and “Bodu Mas” were planned for the evening in Eydhafushi.

Gaafu Dhaalu Nadallaa:

“Bodu Mas” and “Maali Parade” were held in the afternoon of the third day of eid celebration. A special music show was planned for the evening.

Villimale’:

With Innitiation of youths, a “Bashi” competition was held in the afternoon between men and women of Villimale’. Women’s team became the champions from this competition. A lot of spectators came to see this match.

Noonu Velidhoo:

Vlidhoo held a lot of programs to celebrate eid. “Maali Neshun”, “Dhan’di Jehun”, “Maafathi Jehun” and many more activities were held.

Alifu Alifu Bodufolhudhoo:

A lot of joyful activities were held in Bodufolhudhoo to cebrate eid.

Hulhumale’:

“Bodu Mas Dhuvvun” was carried out in Hulhumale’ in the afternoon. Many people gathered to see this event organized by a group of people residing in Hulhumale’. “Bodu Mas Beynun” was planned for the evening.

Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli:

This year, Madeveli celebrated eid with traditional events after around 15 years. “Ban’diyaa Jehun”, “Kuru Fali Jehun”, “Bodu Mas Beynun” and many other activities,including a “Kudakudhinge Haveeru” for children were conducted.

Thaa Hirilandhoo:

A “Bodu Beru” show was planned with “Harubee” group in Hirilandhoo on the third day of eid celebrations. “Harubee” droup arrived Hirilandhoo in the afternoon. The people of the island warmly welcomed the group at the jetty.

Kaafu Kaashidhoo:

A lot of traditional events were held in Kaashidhoo on the third day of eid celebrations.

Alifu Alifu Thoddoo:

Many joyful events were held in Thoddoo from morning on the third day of eid celebrations. Some of the activities were “Bis ukun”, running race’ “boalha hovun”, “bashi” and volley.

Dhaalu Maaeboodhoo

On the third day of eid celebration, youths of Maaeboodhoo went for fishing for 45 minutes and caught 80 reef fishes for a barbeque they have planned for the evening.

Kaafu Huraa:

Huraa celebrates “bodu eid” very colourfully every year. “koadi ken’dun”, was carried out in the afternoon on the third day of eid celebrations. A lot of other activities were planned for the evening.

Ahmed Saail form Majeedhee Magu, Male’:

A lorry parade was held on Majeedhee Magu of Male’ the capital city. Lot of famous singers performed in this parade. Many costumed cartoon characters also participated in this parade. A huge crowd gathered to see this lorry parade.

Hussain Hassan from Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo:

Dhiggaru youth association’s “Lan’giri” group performed a show at Kudahuvadhoo.
